Monday's with the MOB: Link up!

Happy Monday everyone! It has been another busy, but wonderful week in this household.

Some sweet moments by my boys this week...

My youngest pressing his cute little hands together and bowing his head to say the prayer. Almost made this momma cry.

My oldest singing songs at his end of the year "presentation" at Pre-school. He was so proud.

My youngest and his new word, "CHEEEEESE". He brings me the camera and says "cheeeese" just about every day. I love hearing all of his new words!

Some "boy" moments...

Our youngest has a new favorite "game": Flying from the ottoman to the couch over and over and over. Typically we don't allow this, because we are trying to keep the couches "alive" a few more years, BUT he does it with the biggest smile on his face and it is incredibly hard to say no to.

That's this week's Monday with the MOB. Link up or comment with your own MOB (Mother of boys...of all ages)stories from the week!

**On a side note, still having computer problems. I'm not going to lie though, it is kind of nice to be forced to stay off the computer. This little "facebook vacation" of mine has been kind of freeing. And for those of you who write on my posts, my wall, or send me messages on FB, I can't get any of them :) Promise I'm not ignoring you! My incredibly old laptop made me do it...

Monday's with the MOB: Link Up!

Happy Monday everyone! If you saw my post yesterday you know that my computers are not on their best behavior. Because of this, I will not have any pictures to post on today's Monday with the MOB.

Some memorable moments from this week...

The boys sharing toys today...this is so rare...

Our oldest begging us to play hide and seek with him. To my surprise I had SO much fun! Made me feel like a kid again...

Coming home on Saturday night after a date night with the hubbs to find my oldest still awake. I went in to tuck him in, he asked me to stay and sing with him. I got to lay there and hear the sweetest little voice singing his "Bible class songs" along with me. Towards the end of "Jesus loves me" I look over to see that he is signing the song while he sings. He told me he learned it at Pre-school and proceeded to teach me as well...made this momma overjoyed.

Some not so memorable moments...

For some reason our boys have chosen this week to be super clingy, over emotional week. Not only did my oldest burst out in tears as soon as he walks into a birthday party for his friend (thus making his younger brother do the same) he also did the same thing walking into Bible class. Yes I was concerned....and, honestly, highly embarrassed.

My youngest screaming his way through Hobby Lobby and my oldest "racing" around it and somehow being ignorant to my warnings...note to self: Don't attempt Hobby Lobby by myself with two boys...they are not made for that kind of stuff.

I'm sure there are more, but honestly my brain is fried and I have laundry coming out my ears (pretty picture, huh?!) so I must go!

Today has actually been a good Monday so far. Here's to a great week!

Mondays with the MOB: Link Up!

Every once and a while I have been doing Monday's with the MOB (Mother of boys) recap of the last week with my adorable, energetic, and wild boys. I have decided to do that every Monday and invite other moms of boys to link up and share their week as well! All you need to do is share your own crazy wonderful stories on your blog. You can add the link to your post at the bottom of this post. Fun, right?! Please no complaining (you know the difference between complaining and telling a "funny" story) about our sweet, well meaning boys. This is just a way I have found to help celebrate that, yes, we did indeed survive another week with our boys(of all ages) that seem so foreign to us at times :) If you don't have a blog of your own, please share your stories in a comment on this post!

This past week has been relaxed. We returned from Texas and just spent the week getting back into a routine. The weather has been beautiful so everyday pretty much included a bike ride and/or a trip to the park.

--Some highlights of the week....

The boys actually PLAYING together (no fighting!)

My youngest now uses his milk bottle as a sword and makes the appropriate "swishhhh, swishhhh" sound as he swings it through the air :) Future Fencing champ?

My oldest and his new obsession with water towers. We must have taken about 20 pictures of them to and from Texas. Funny thing is that I have always loved old water towers. I'm excited about this new hobby of ours!
My boys wanting to hold hands with me on the very last leg of the trip from Texas. They were tired and it was incredibly sweet :)

--Now for some moments that are umm, boy??--

My youngest was so excited (picture the cutest, biggest smile) to bring me his newest "treasure".....
a HUGE, dead MOTH!
Needless to say, I freaked out! Then, to try and not scare my son I smiled as big as I could, said "thank you, baby!" and whisked him away to disinfect his hands like crazy!

--Lesson Learned--
"Pretty" soap and decorative towels DO NOT belong in a boys bathroom.
I like pretty soap and having towels hanging up that actually aren't meant to be used after a bath. It helps fulfill one of my "girly" needs I guess.
I have learned that "nice towels" WILL be used to accomplish any and all tasks a boy should choose despite how many times I try to explain "pretty towels" to them.
And soap....yes, no matter how good it smells, a WHOLE BOTTLE will be dumped out into the sink in order to "make more bubbles" to play in.
Sweet, functional, boys :)

I wish everyone another happy week in the MOB world!

Monday's with the MOB

Man oh man I have been busy! We are in project mode still and today we finished up our garden area and planted our Zucchini and Cucumber plants that are already crazy big.

So I thought I'd do a quick round-up of some highlights from my boys over the past week or so....

Quote from my oldest: "Mom, can you please go away?" Envision him poised towards our youngest waiting for me to leave so he can take his toy... :)

My youngest today as he dove(purposely) into a mud puddle while some friends and I were letting the kids play at a nearby college campus. In an attempt to make him "cleaner" he became shirtless the rest of the time while still having a blast in the puddle. Cute boy was in his element. And then later on tonight when we arrived at a track night(the kids get to run and have "races" with other kids) at the same college I was getting our youngest out of the car and realized we forgot his pants. HA! So, yes, he was shirtless and pantless on the same campus in one day. Needless to say he didn't mind a bit :)

The next pictures are from the hike we took the boys on last Friday. They LOVED it! They could throw rocks, jump off rocks, play in the dirt (get dirty), splash in the water, and just be free to be boys....

A park at a nearby campsite

We kept attempting to take a "good" family pic, and this is the best one!

Throwing a million rocks :)

I hope you have had a good Monday (with the MOB)!

'One'derful day...

Well, our second born's 1st birthday was about 2 1/2 weeks ago and people have been asking to see pictures of the special day. Since I was sick right after that and have been playing catch up on everything that was forgotten about while I was down I have not posted anything yet. So for those who care....

On someone's birthday in our house we try to sing "Happy Birthday" and have a candle at just about every meal. This is breakfast.....
Very excitedly signing "more" over and over because he wants his pancake stack and bananas...

And apparently I was taking too long to sing Happy Birthday....
Lessons learned from birthday breakfast for child number 2....
1) Don't put a candle in warm pancakes....the pancakes will melt the candle and the pancakes will get wax all over them....needless to say I gave him other pancakes to eat :)
2) Sing Happy Birthday incredibly fast

Later in the day my wonderful hubbs took half of the day off work and met us for lunch at Chick-Fil-A (LOVE this place because it is incredibly kid friendly). The boys had a great time!

After the boys naps we let Pryce open his presents from us....

The bow was instant entertainment
getting the hang of unwrapping
Big brother couldn't stand not "helping" unwrap...

All Pryce wanted to do was climb on the box :)

Filling up the silo with all the animals

Later on in the evening we had a small party for Pryce. Since we've already done the big 1st  B-day before, I was kinda over it :) but still wanted to make his day special. We decided to make it a birthday/game night with friends. We did a Winter 'One'derland theme since he was born in a big snowstorm last year.

Having a snack before the party and loving his balloons

One of a kind just like a snowflake :) Amazing shirt made my talented friend Carrie of Cuckoo Caboodle

I used a crinkled paper bag for the back triangle

We did "sweets and treats"...oreo balls and white donut holes (snowballs), white cheese ball and crackers, cupcakes, and blue, white and brown candy
Epsom salt, burlap ribbon, jute twine, rusted metal snowflake

We served white grape shower punch and did a hot cocoa bar for drinks

felt snowman to play with

An army of penguins to greet our guests(and take home with them)...so cute!

Trying out the goods

chocolate beard :)

Happy after his cupcake and crackers!
loving the attention from everyone :)

playing with balloons the next morning :)

And there ya have it. We had a 'ONE'derful time celebrating and fellowshipping with great friends! Still can't believe he is already one. I am soaking up rocking him and getting baby kisses while I can, because I know it just keeps going faster and faster.....

**Special Date**

Today was a special day, for a few reasons...

1) I FINALLY felt well! For the first time in a week. Hallelujah!

2) I got to go on a "Momma~Caden Date" with our oldest. We were supposed to go a week ago, but I wasn't feeling well so we had to post-pone...

About a week and a half ago I was having a really hard time getting our oldest to go to Pre-school. This is VERY unlike him. He is normally excited to go to school to see his friends and teachers, but this morning I was only getting big tantrums. After calming him down and talking to him I was able to get him to school but as soon as I was about to leave he started bawling. His teachers were shocked because they had never seen him do this. I left our youngest with his sweet teachers to play while I went to talk to Caden alone. He didn't want to come home with me, but he didn't want to stay at school. Instead I loved on him and calmed him down and then left him--crying again--with his teachers(broke my heart). I told them to call me if he didn't stop, and secretly I wanted them too, but of course he stopped and ended up having a great day.

When I picked him up one of his teachers, the one who calmed him down, told me what Caden ended up saying to her. He told her, "I don't want to share my toys with Pryce, I don't want to play with Pryce, I don't want to see Pryce, I want to see my Momma, I just want to see my Momma."

Broke my heart again....he needed to spend one-on-one time with me, and only me. And ya know, I've always known this needed to happen, and kinda thought it did since our youngest takes a nap in the morning, but he needed me to set special time aside just for him.

I decided he and I would go on a date and he told me he wanted to go get ice cream. Then, to make it even cuter, he said to his dad, "Daddy I need some money so I can take Momma on a date." Love :)

He has been looking forward to this for over a week now and got the cutest smile on his face when I told him we were going to be able to go today. "Momma, I'm going to take you on a date today, but you're going to drive, and I'm going to sit in my car seat." His daddy is taking full advantage of this situation to also teach him about how to treat girls. "You always pay for girls...you tell them how pretty they look...remember to ask her what she would like before you get your own..." It was really sweet overhearing their conversation. Here I was wanting to make him feel special and I was the one feeling special in return.

Some pics of our fun...He let me have a mini photo shoot before we left....

sweet laughs

Gotta love being tickled :)

Loving his ice cream with his "bears and M & M's" on top

I just like this
The yummy mess in a HUGE bowl

He wanted to drink his "juice"
Caden picked out our table, right by the window, and pointed to a store he wanted to go to after we finished our ice cream. It was one of those $1 jewelry stores, and I had never been in it before so I was all for that one! He giggled as he tried on bracelets and gave me "pretty, shiny" ones to try on. Sweet boy...I tucked away the thought to break this to his dad gently :) After that he wanted to go to the pet store. We saw dogs, cats and fish. He was happy and he even got to pick out a toy and a couple dog treats for our pup and a friend's dog. After picking out Valentine's for his friends and picking up a *special* Valentine for momma (Just happened to be the day Breaking Dawn came out...) we headed home.

He was the most polite, thoughtful, and cute little boy I have ever seen and brought smiles to people around us and to myself. We didn't do anything big or over the top, we just spent time together that was out of the norm. Days like this are needed, for all of us. Today has helped me "see" my oldest again, for what he is, a sweet little boy, and it has hopefully helped him feel how important and special he is.

He even was excited to get home and see his little brother AND share his toys with him :)

Monday's with the MOB

MOB definition: Mother of boys

For the past three days I have been sick. Not just sick, but wishing I was in labor instead of having this virus sick. I have never felt this bad in my life(no exaggeration), but luckily I have had some happy little helpers take good care of me. There are the days when surrounded by boys that I want to scream and then there are the days that they make me feel incredibly special since I am the only girl they know :)

MOB highlights from the past week:

"Momma, you're pretty"

"Momma my head hurts, can I have kisses to make it feel better?" --my oldest's attempt to postpone going to bed...it worked. He got snuggles and kisses. My husband laughed at me and made fun of me for being wrapped around his finger, but I know in 10 years when he is too cool for kisses I will be wishing he still thought kisses made everything feel better

"Let me cover you up so you don't get cold" --cue my oldest covering me with a blanket while I am half alive lying on the couch

"Momma you want to eat with us? Eating your food will make you feel better" --something I tell him all the time. I didn't even feel good enough to eat, but in this case I did eat. I couldn't say no.

Fav pics of this week....

How I found my oldest one night when I went in to check on him :) And then the next morning I listened as he flicked each one individually off his bed and into the wall

Playing outside on a beautiful day

My oldest was trying to take a picture of me, but didn't realize the camera was turned around :)

I love my boys. They have taken very good care of this sickly lady. And I've decided the best thing for a person who is sick is to be surrounded by cute, lively little boys.
